Cemetery is running out of burial plots
Addlestone Cemetery is running out of burial plots and must be extended, Runnymede Council has been told.
Officers will recommend the leisure and environment committee tomorrow to extend the Green Lane cemetery to nearby Simplemarsh Farm, across the road, because the existing space will be full in within a year.
The report states: "The land that the council owns at Simplemarsh Farm has been identified as a suitable location for an extension to Addlestone cemetery."
If officers' recommendations are a accepted, the extension will cost £200,000, giving enough burial space for the next 100 years at the current rate.
