Hats off to charity pupils

Posted by Graham Spence on Jun 26, 08 02:32 PM in

A mother who set up a fund to raise money for research into the condition that killed her eight-year-old son has thanked Fullbrook School students for raising £520 for her charity.

Pupils at the school in New Haw raised the cash with a sponsored hat wearing competition and presented Tania Hayhoe with a cheque last week.

Mrs Hayhoe, of Garden Close, Addlestone, set up Georgie's Fund for research into neuroblastoma, a type of childhood cancer, in memory of her son George, who died of the disease in February 2004.

She said: "Much of the time, we receive negative stories about young people. This shows our community that our children can be generous and caring."

We'd like to hear from you.
