Mayor of Runnymede, Cllr Jim Broadhead, was presented with an award last week to certify that Addlestone has achieved Fairtrade status.
Faith Axten from the Fairtrade Association gave the award at a meeting in the Runnymede council offices in Addlestone on Thursday July 17.
Councillors were also invited to sample some Fairtrade products in the new council chamber, including wine and cashew nuts.
To be given Fairtrade status, a proportion of all of the shops, churches and schools in a town have to provide fairtrade products, either for sale, or free.
