On Saturday 6 September, Jonathan Perkins, Trustee of the Princess Alice Hospice led by example as he took part in the Hospice's first Midnight Walk, he also encouraged two other trustees Lynn Gilbert and Jenny Provin to join him and make up a team called 'The Alice Band'.

The three trustees all completed the 13.1-mile walk around Kew, Richmond and Twickenham; they all finished in a respectable time despite some inclement weather.

Not only did Jonathan rise to the challenge of the walk itself he also proved himself a champion fundraiser raising £2150, which smashed his initial target of £1,500.

Jonathan Perkins, Trustee said

"The event was great fun and I was very impressed with the organisation by the fundraising team and the dedication and professionalism of the volunteers. I and the other trustees were very grateful for all their encouragement".

Hundreds of walkers pledged £50,000 on the night; the event was a great success and will be taking place next year so keep an eye out for future stories. The charity is now encouraging all walkers to send in their sponsorship.

Julie Thomas, Community and Event Manager said

"Over £50,000 has been pledged by our amazing supporters, when all of this money comes in it would be enough to fund more than 480 visits to patients' in their homes' from our Princess Alice Nurses, all of whom are Clinical Nurse Specialists".
