tesco-web.JPGA TEENAGER has claimed he was assaulted by a security guard in a Tesco car park.

The 17-year-old boy from Catherine Close in Byfleet, and his friends were in the superstore in the early hours of Saturday morning buying cleaning products after one of their friends had vomited on the back seat of one of the cars belonging to another boy.

Thebenchweb.JPG police will remove a bench from Green Lane in Chertsey if no objections are made.

It has been claimed that the bench attracts gathering youths that leave litter and make noise until the early hours of the morning.

A minute's silence fell over Tesco in Addlestone on Thursday September 24 for the funeral of a well-loved member of staff.

Colleagues of Denise Edwards, known as Denny, gathered outside as the hearse carrying her coffin stopped off by the main entrance for them to pay their final respects.

Mrs Edwards, 54, collapsed at work in the petrol station of the store in Station Road on the morning of Thursday September 3.

She was put into an induced coma by doctors at St Peter's Hospital in Chertsey, but when they tried to wake her up the following Tuesday, they found no brain activity, and she died.

School toy appeal

Staff at an Addlestone school are appealing for toys and games for pupils to use both in the classroom and in the playground.

Younger pupils at St Paul's C of E Primary School in School Lane are looking for puppets, lego, outside play equipment and complete board games and puzzles for playtimes.

Anyone who can help should contact the school on 01932 848 528.

A 12-year-old boy suffered minor leg injuries in a collision with a car in Addlestone on the afternoon of Saturday September 19.

An ambulance was called to Church Road just before 2.45pm and the boy was taken to St Peter's Hospital in Chertsey, but later released.

Fire devastates family home

A family lost their newly decorated home to a devastating fire last week but escaped with their lives.

Fire, police and ambulance were called to Middlesex court in Addlestone last Wednesday at 11.18pm.

Since 2004 St Peter's and Ashford hospital have made almost four million pounds profit from car parking fees.

Information obtained by the Herald and News under the Freedom of Information Act (2000) revealed that the Trust had made a profit of £3, 796, 595 from charging the public to park when visiting friends and relatives.

Disabled and elderly residents are having to climb 15 storeys by foot after lifts at their block of flats keep breaking down.

People living in Surrey Towers in Garfield Road, Addlestone, have been without a reliable lift service since May this year when a combination of repairs by Runnymede Council and faults, left both lifts out of action.

Residents in the 100-flat building have been forced to struggle up the stairs, or sit and wait for a lift repair man, just to get home.

Staff at Jubilee High School in Addlestone are expecting to be among the most improved schools in the country after pupils got their GCSE results.

The school, in School Lane, recorded 64% of students getting five or more A* to C grades, a jump of nearly 20% on last year.
