DIAL ANOTHER DAY: pensioner gets calls from Bond fans
An OAP has received repeated phone calls from James Bond fanatics because her phone number ends in 007.
The number appears on various websites advertising The James Bond International Fan Club because it once belonged to the Clubs' creator, a Bond enthusiast who logged his details on the web so that fellow fans could contact him.
The number was redistributed by BT to an 82 year-old widow almost two years ago when she moved into a new home.
Since then she has received a number of calls from fans attempting to find out more about their favourite Martini-drinking, Secret Service agent.
The pensioners son who visits his mother to do odd jobs around the house said: "I organised a number for my mother when she moved in, we saw this one and though 'oh 007 that'll be a good one.'
Now the pensioner who lives in Woking, gets sporadic calls from fans but has a Live and Let Dial attitude.
The woman's son said: "They are always very polite and apologetic when they realise they've got the wrong number.
"I've answered the phone to some of them before, I actually quite enjoy speaking to them.
"They are interesting, although I'm not sure if that is the word!
"My mother hasn't had a call in a while, I think she's had between 10 and 15 in total.
"She's elderly and on her own, for her it's someone to speak to.
"She doesn't mind, she prefers it to tele-sales."
A spokesman from BT said: "BT does provide numbers that have been used in the past.
"However we do try to ensure that there has been a reasonable amount of time between users to minimise any chance of inconvenience for new owner.
"We could of course change the number if this customer was unhappy, but we are delighted to hear she is enjoying talking to these occasional callers."
The phone number appears on at least three websites, one of which is Creative Match, a site that allows users to upload their own advertisements.
An employee identified the user as a man who used to live in Addlestone for a number of years.
The employee said: "His page was created in 2005,
"He hasn't let us know what he is doing.
"It is up to the user to inform us of any changes to their details."
Creative Match has now removed the number from their site.
We'd like to hear from you. Send your stories, pics and videos
