addlestone-muslim-centre-13.jpgTrustees of a Muslim study centre in Addlestone have hit back at complaints over their plans to build a cold storage room for dead bodies.

Neighbours living close to the centre, in Albert Road, have accused Surrey Islamic Trust of going against promises that the building would only be used as a study centre by holding prayer meetings and applying for planning permission for a mortuary.

But Kamal Yakub, trustee and secretary of the Trust, said members have gone out of their way to accommodate neighbours since the centre opened on the site of St Augustine's Church in early 2005.
